Lucas has been teaching Professional level training courses for the past 6 years and has firmly positioned himself as a highly skilled and acclaimed scuba instructor and mentor.

Having previously worked for two of Koh Tao’s premier 5 Star IDC Centers Lucas decided he wanted to work under the most experienced Course Director on Koh Tao, Matt Bolton, as he worked towards becoming a Course Director himself.

Lucas’s background reflects his multicultural upbringing. Born to a Brazilian mother and French father, he spent his early years in Brazil before moving to France at the age of 6. As a result, both French and Portuguese are his native languages.

During his education at Montpellier Business School, Lucas studied Spanish and English for more than 10 years, further expanding his linguistic abilities.

Having lived abroad for an extended period, Lucas has developed a strong cultural sensitivity that greatly enhances his ability to teach diving teaching skills.

His travels have taken him to various countries, including New Caledonia, New Zealand, USA, Canada, Croatia, Morocco, Spain, UK, Netherlands, Dominican Republic, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Chile, Argentina, Peru, and Bolivia.

Lucas is part of a select group of Dive Professionals and Marine Scientists based in Koh Tao who are certified by the DMCR (Department of Marine and Coastal Resources) to teach Coral Propagation & Reef Restoration techniques.

Lucas actively contributes to the REACT program at Black Turtle Dive, which was introduced in 2022 in collaboration with the non-profit organization Conservation Diver.

As a Conservation Diver Speciality Instructor, Lucas is qualified to teach various courses such as Ecological Monitoring Program, Sea Turtle Ecology, and Shark Ecology.
