BOOK ONLINELearn to Teach Equipment Specialty Instructor Course
Become a more confident, capable, and well-rounded dive professional with the PADI Equipment Specialist Instructor course at IDC Koh Tao. This highly practical specialty focuses on one of the most important—but often overlooked—areas of diving: understanding and maintaining scuba equipment.
Every diver has experienced equipment issues at some point—whether it’s a leaking O-ring, a faulty inflator, or a broken strap just before a dive. As a PADI Equipment Specialist Instructor, you will be able to teach your students how to manage these situations, perform basic repairs, and take proper care of their gear.
This course is not about advanced servicing or technician-level repairs. Instead, it focuses on practical, real-world knowledge that helps divers feel more confident, avoid common problems, and protect their investment in expensive scuba equipment.

Equipment Knowledge in a Real Dive Environment
Koh Tao is one of the busiest dive training locations in the world, with thousands of divers entering the water every day. This makes it the perfect place to develop a strong understanding of scuba equipment in real working conditions.
As an instructor working in a high-volume dive environment, being able to quickly identify and resolve equipment issues is an essential skill. Whether you are helping students adjust their gear, fixing minor problems on the boat, or ensuring equipment is correctly configured before a dive, this knowledge directly improves safety, efficiency, and overall dive experience.
By completing the Equipment Specialist Instructor course, you will gain the confidence to handle common issues such as leaking inflators, free-flowing regulators, worn O-rings, and broken straps—ensuring that small problems don’t turn into cancelled dives.
