Ever wondered what it is that is so alluring about diving at night? Where does all the marine life go to sleep? What happens underwater after it goes dark? Whatever your reason, diving at night opens up a whole new fascination with the underwater world and is a hugely popular PADI Specialty course.
There are many reasons why divers want to go scuba diving at night. As a PADI Night Diver Specialty Instructor, you can teach student divers how to safely explore the underwater world with a dive light and watch it come to life.
You can safely show your students divers how the scene changes at night, revealing creatures and organisms that are hidden during the day and who burst into life at night.
Night diving around Koh Tao
The dive sites around Koh Tao are an excellent training ground for conducting night dives. As a PADI Night Diver Specialty Instructor you will be able to teach your student divers the importance of specialist night diving equipment, how to evaluate dive conditions, navigation techniques and how to use and maintain dive lights.
Your student divers will learn night diving procedures and how to apply them within recreational limits whilst understanding how to interact responsibly with and avoid disturbing sensitive marine life.
Who can enrol on the PADI Night Diver Specialty Instructor Course?
A renewed PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI)
Note: IDC/OWSI candidates may participate in the PADI Night Diver Specialty Instructor training course but may only apply for Specialty Instructor certification after passing an IE.
PADI Night Diver Specialty Instructors must have attended a training course taken by a PADI Course Director and demonstrated proof of experience prior to certification. This is a course exit requirement.
What you will learn
You will participate in the following sessions:
- Present and be evaluated on a prescriptive presentation from the PADI Night Diver Specialty Course knowledge review
- PADI Night Diver Specialty Course standards, procedures and the curriculum
- How to organise and conduct the PADI Night Diver Specialty Course
- Open Water training sessions – where you will learn how to demonstrate, execute and evaluate the student level skills from the PADI Night Diver Specialty Course.
You will complete the open water training dives on one of several local dive sites suitable for this training.
As a PADI Night Diver Specialty Instructor you are certified to independently teach the PADI Night Diver Specialty Course
